Some of the most popular WWE Superstars in history have actually retired from the business at one point or another. However, many of them have made a triumphant return that has had WWE fans on the edge of their seats. Here are some of the most legendary WWE returns that have ever happened.

The first blockbuster return on this list is The Rock. After a successful movie career, The Rock left WWE in 2004 to focus on his Hollywood career. However, he made a surprise return at WrestleMania XXIV in 2008 and had an epic match with John Cena. The Rock’s return was so unexpected and huge that it helped WrestleMania XXIV become one of the highest-grossing pay-per-views in history.

Another huge return was that of Brock Lesnar. Lesnar retired from WWE in 2004 after defeating Eddie Guerrero at WrestleMania XX. He then pursued a career in MMA, but made his shocking return to WWE at Summer Slam in 2012. His return was so unexpected that even the commentary didn’t know what to say when he came out. Lesnar went on to have a very successful run in WWE, becoming Universal Champion and dominating the competition.

One more retirement turned blockbuster return worth mentioning is Trish Stratus. Stratus retired from WWE in 2006 after an illustrious career that saw her become one of the most popular Divas in history. However, she made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 and had a memorable match with Charlotte Fl.

Each of these stars brought something unique to their return, whether it was The Undertaker’s eerie entrance or Triple H’s show-stopping performance in the ring. But one thing was clear: they still had what it takes to be top superstars in the WWE.

Their returns were met with huge ovations from the fans, proving that even after years away from the ring, they’re still some of the most popular figures in professional wrestling. It’s safe to say that their returns have made an already exciting WWE even more entertaining to watch.
